Crypto-Agility Maturity Model

The Research in cryptographic agility focuses on developing concepts that enable the switching between different cryptographic algorithms dynamically. So far, however, there is no uniform understanding of what measures are necessary and how software and hardware must be designed to enable an uncomplicated change of cryptography implementations. This project addresses the research question of how applications and IT systems must be designed so that the cryptography they contain can be adapted dynamically. The goal is to work out requirements that cryptographically agile systems need to possess. A maturity model is developed to evaluate the status of crypto-agility in IT-Systems. This model should enable deriving further measures to improve crypto-agility. The results will be verified by means of expert interviews and a prototypical implementation within software applications.
